Seoul - Insadong Neighborhood

The Soho of Seoul
One of the four Tigers, South Korea has come a long way in a short time.  It was demolished in the war and rebuilt at a pace that defies belief.  Usually when things are done in a hurry the result is less than pleasing to the eye.  Overall, they did a nice job.  This is a charming, though harried, megalopolis.  Now that it's one of the wealthier places on the planet, the latest generations are turning towards design and the arts.
Insadong is a cross between Soho and the West Village.  A place where you can buy Korean antiques, modern art or doo dads from one-man shops.
We spent a frigid afternoon perusing.  I was happy to go into any shop, even a shop selling knitting supplies - anything to get out of the chill.
This small mall was for artists and artisans only.  The top floor was designed to look like an overgrown country lane.  Singapore needs more of this type of stuff.
