Goodbye Medellin
We bussed our way out, hoping to get there on time but quickly gave up hope as traffic and road works slowed us to a crawl.
We were headed south to coffee country, a town called Armenia. Only 160 miles, piece of cake. It's just that there were road works, traffic and our fat driver decided that we were all going to take a 1 hour lunch break right outside our destination. All told, that 160 miles took about 9 hours. The first 2 hours, the bus swayed to and fro like an amusement ride. It's tight and turny in the Andes. Every hour or so, the driver would stop and let a street vendor aboard to sell snacks. I bought something that tasted like a corn hockey puck.
The plan in Armenia, well we're not even staying in Armenia - we are staying 30 minutes south of town on an aloe vera farm. We plan to hit to local hot springs and hike the mountains, some of which reach over 12,000 feet.
