Melbourne - Out to the Burbs

Heading South to South Yarra
Melbourne is a town of many neighborhoods, one known to be schwanks - South Yarra, about 3k south.  According to my research, Melbourne has the most extensive tram network in the world and it's hard to doubt that fact - they're everywhere.
We bought a day pass for A$6.80 and hopped on.  This happened to be a modern one but there are others which are much older and even a few that are antique and serve as moving restaurants.  You sit at tables with fine linen and china and everythinng.
South Yarra is a mishmash of beautifully restored older row houses and ultramodern boxes, side by side.  It's leafy and quiet and beautiful.
There are back lanes full of flowering trees bursting over wooden fences.  This one even had a flowering vine growing on top of it.
I liked this small mural in which a teradactyl circles above two gawking kids.
It's a neighborhood that is instantly likeable.  The type of peaceful, sleepy, green haven that you could move into if you have a few million.
The main street is composed of old row houses, shoulder to shoulder, with retail shops along the sidewalk.  We walked around, had coffee at a cafe, popped in and out of bookstores and shops and enjoyed the afternoon.
