There must be a quarry the size of the Grand Canyon nearby. In the old part of the city, everything is made of stone.
I don't know if they abhorred nature in medieval times or if there were some legitimate reason for paving over everything. There is hardly any greenery of any kind. All of the parks, trees and flowers are outside the old wall.
I felt as if I were in a giant stone cocoon.
