All roads begin at the Duomo, Milan's bullseye. They started to build her in 1386 and didn't finish until the early 1800's when Napoleon, the newly crowned King of Italy, spared no expense on her facade. It's as bright and dazzling outside as it is dark and dank on the inside. I wanted to take photos of the interior but it was not allowed.
There are thousands of intricate statues, no one like the other, covering the outside. I eyeballed many and my favorite was the man on the left, who appears to have a severe stomach problem.
It's the largest cathedral in Italy and there are only three larger in the world. However, to me, more impressive than the scale is the intricacy and craftsmanship.
