Everyone to their Posts
I'm not sure how we ended up in our respective positions, Wayne at midship and me at the front - perhaps I was eager to get photos. We unhitched ourselves and puttered past our Chagny neighbors - longer, older canal boats that looked to be lived in full time.
In the early morning the canal was perfectly still and this stretch was tree lined and deeply green.
I stood up and leaned on the tied-down mast, looking back occasionally but mainly staring straight ahead into the canal.
The reflections were beautiful.

You have to admit that France has some beautiful scenery. Do you know how deep the canal is, how wide, and how often it is dredged? Did you have a speed limit, as we did in England (3 knots)? Although some of these pictures remind me of the Erie Canal around Syracuse, your canal must not have smelled like the E.C. or you would have mentioned it, eh?
@Sal - yes, tremendously beautiful countryside. The canals were about 10-12 feet deep, which made it interesting since his sailboat had a 6 foot keel. There was a speed limit in one section of the canal where a lot of boats were docked but I don't think there was one in general. No smells at all - no garbage either - very pristine.
Delightful pics Hope there are more to come.
@Pops - yep, there are many more to come. I'm working on some next posts...
