Tokyo - Landing

The Redeye
After an overnight flight from Singapore to Tokyo, she looked much fresher than I.  I don't know how she does it.

We had a bit of time to kill prior to checking into our Air BnB, so we put our luggage in a locker at the local train station and took a walk.  It was crisp but sunny, about 55 degrees.  We walked from our neighborhood of Ebisu to Daikanyama, which is about 30 minutes away.

In the early afternoon we checked into our "apartment", which was approximately 20 feet by 8 feet including a tiny bathroom and a kitchen that could fit in a thimble.  The view from the porch looked out onto the maze of Ebisu.
Tokyo, unlike what you might expect with 20 million packed in together, is remarkably quiet.  They seem to place an emphasis on it.  Hardly any traffic noise, no screaming or loud talking, no honking.  From the porch all I could hear were the loud squawks of the large jungle crows.  The crows, for me, are the Tokyo soundtrack.  Apparently there is one of these for every hundred people.  They sit on the light poles and call out to each other.  They are loud.  All kinds of attempts have been made to thin them out, one neighborhood going so far as to keep bee hives of a certain type of bee which attacks the crows.
