Boston - Days 2-3

From the Boonies to Beantown
After breakfast we packed up and headed out.  First stop, the Quabbin reservoir, which was built in the 30's to supply drinking water to Boston.  Four small towns were sacrificed to create the largest body of water in the state,  Half a mile long and 150 feet deep.

We strolled along the Winsor dam on the south end of the reservoir.

No, she was not working, just checking her photos.

In the late afternoon we arrived in Boston and checked into our Beacon Hill apartment.  We parked the Smart a block away and took a hilly walk.  The next day we took the subway to Cambridge and ate a typically New England lunch of chowder and lobster.

Harvard was just as expected.  Ivy covered buildings and an over-sized chess match on the quad.  Their bookstore was particularly good - a nice cross-section of subjects.

Over at MIT, the Chinese tourists were everywhere.  It was difficult to take a photo without one of them in it.  By contrast there wasn't a single fathomable book in their bookstore.  The subjects ranged from chip building to advanced mathematics to quantum mechanics.
