After and hour drive south in the East Rift Valley we stopped at Shin Liu Farm. Jennifer described it as a "water farm" where they tended "water vegetables" - specifically native species of water vegetables. I really had no idea what that meant and it didn't help that none of the signs were in English.
Walking around I started to get an idea. The entire farm was composed of waterlogged fields planted with various greenery. We moved along the wooden walkways at a leisurely pace.
A couple of dogs followed us and one jumped off the walkway to root around in the vegetation. His friend peered at the edge, whimpering, not brave enough to make the jump. If you look just above the fenceline closely, you can see the ears and tail of the braver dog.
The farm was pinned against the mountains and had a small river flowing through the middle of it. Some of their ponds were stocked with fish of varying sizes and colors. It was really beautiful and peaceful.
The river was set with bamboo fish traps and we got to eat a fresh catch for lunch.
The lunch also included greenery from the farm. Matter of fact, it was probably the healthiest lunch I've had in a long time - plates of shredded and chopped vegetables and fish. I will write it up for the Puff List soon.
