Paris - Day 3

Anatomy of a Train Ride
Up a bit earlier this morning to have my cafe creme (coffee with cream) and catch my train. I go from Hotel de Ville to La Defense, as shown below:

Train arrives.

Train interior - this is at the end of the line, as I was getting off.

Train station at La Defense. As you can see, black is all the rage (except for that guy in the foreground in tan.)

Final destination - a glass building full off meetings....

Paris Metro vs. NY Subway
Same:
Nobody smiles, people wear backpacks and bump into you, nobody makes eye contact, the trains pause for no apparent reason.

Different:
Paris metro has rubber wheels making the ride quieter and smoother. You need to keep your subway ticket to get OUT of the Paris Metro at your destination. Paris Metro has no express trains, you stop at every single stop.
The Obama Factor
On the train ride back to the hotel, two Africans were high-stepping and chanting "Obama, Obama", holding up a picture of the president-elect and thrusting it in the faces of passengers. "Obama, le vrai roi, le frai roi" (Obama, the true king, the true king.) The passengers looked tense - about the same as they would on a NY train.
Dinner Time
The Puffin was all dolled-up French-style.

We went to dinner here. (Dad, click on the word "here" in the last sentence.)

Someone is bored to work and is grumpy that no one left any comments... so here comes..

Singapore MRT (Mass Rapid Transit aka subway/metro) is probably a little friendlier so you will get smiles. As for bumps, I think it's inevitable during peak hours because people simply walk at different speed... =P You will also like the quiet and smooth ride, plus the trains are definitely better kept than that in NY. Of course, you can let me know if I am right because you are going Singapore to find it out for yourself! Yeah the KID!

So will we be having Mac Bkf in Paris someday?? Hahahaha....
