Osaka - Two Wheels

Bikers are Everywhere
On our first walk what struck me, almost literally, were the bikes.  There are many more bikers in Osaka than in Tokyo.  They ride in the street, on the sidewalk and cover every age group.  Old ladies on their uprights, youngsters on racers, dressy women holding umbrellas in one hand and the handlebars in the other.
Pragmatism seemed to trump style with most cruising on staid models, baskets and all.
We learned not to make any sudden moves while walking around, there were bikers swerving to our right and left and even in the void decks of buildings.
In the funkier hoods, the funkier models held sway.
We saw signs disallowing parking in certain spots.
Most complied, parking in one of the many bike lots.
However, once in a while someone ignored the no parking signs.  In this case, they parked on top of the sign.
