Germany - Vellcome to the Boonstockles

Three Hrs on a Train - but a World of Difference
If you could combine Germany's efficiency and technology with Frenchie cuisine, you'd really have something.  Here we were in a small town near Heidelberg, in schwanks environs at software meetings eating boiled slop for lunch.  It's just three hours away by train and after two days, as hard as this is to believe, I couldn't wait to get back to Paris.  That's saying something.

SAP gets credit for its impressive "campus" - 9,000 strong cranking out crappy software surrounded by modern architecture and design.  All the way up on the 8th floor, the ledges were fully abloom and the bird decal momentarily tricked me.
Every chance I got, I snuck out of the meeting and walked around.  We were in the 8th building of 30 plus and we figured it was the one designed to impress the clients.
At the end of our hallway you could relax in the lounge.
The best part of which was the coffee bar, where I loaded up on triple espressos and cookies, all free.
The nearby balcony proved popular with the Frenchies, who snuck off and smoked their filterless cigarettes and complained about Germany and Germans.  My colleague Laurent spent almost three hours out there in just two days.

Did you get to Heidelberg at all? I'd be interested to know how many original or very old buildings are still there, especially after seeing the pix of the modern buildings.

@Sal - no, didn't get a chance to go to Heidelberg, I was only there for one evening and we spent it at a local restaurant.
