Dallas - Freedom of Flight Museum

Checking Out Some Old Birds
With some time to kill before graduation, we went to Love Field to a flight museum.  It was better than I expected.

My favorite thing was the Apollo 7 capsule.  It was the real deal, on loan from the Smithsonian.  I couldn't believe how homemade it looked.
This is a shot of the inside of the front door, I imagined some old guys in the basement with a tool set putting this thing together in their spare time.
Craziest of all - the inside.  Looks like three cots side by side.  These guys were stuck next to each other for ten days and there didn't appear to be much room to float around.  They were nuts to crawl into this tin gumdrop and be shot into the skies.
There were all kinds of things: planes, helicopters, parachutes and even a cruise missile.  Imagine seeing this flying towards your town at full speed.
Sal and Mach got cornered by a volunteer, an old Navy pilot who flew in the Korean war.  He was a good old boy with lots of history and stories.
He was nice enough to let Mach sit in a Huey.
