Tokyo - Sumo

Fall Tournament Live
The fall tournament was showing live on television.  Every day, no matter what we were up to, I would harass Dodo to go back to the hotel from 4pm to 6pm to watch.  At first she did so just to keep me happy but after a few days she got caught up in the drama.

This guy, a Mongolian whose sumo name is Haramafuji, was fighting for the first time at the top rank of Yokozuna.  Once you're promoted to that rank, you either perform or are forced to retire.  He started out well, winning 7 of his first 8 and then began to falter.  Dodo got nervous whenever he was set to fight. She grew to like Haramfuji and cheered him on.  He finished with a record of 9 wins, six losses and was criticized in the Japanese press.  If he doesn't win at least 10 matches in the January tournament he will be the quickest serving Yokozuna in history.
