Freedom Trip - Day 6

Mishicot WI to Madison WI
We didn't spend much time in the capital, we popped by to see one of Jean's friends from Singapore.

The drive was mercifully short.  We swung over the top of lake Winnebago through the towns of Winnebago and Osh Kosh.
We rented a cozy one bedroom apartment in the suburbs similar to the one we'd left in Mishicot - a well-finished basement next to the garage.  The owners lived upstairs and had a three-legged cat that would visit us from time to time.

One of the owners made her own beer, she had a small workshop off the garage for that purpose.  We tried out the vintage Pepsi machine, filled with different craft beers.

We met Jean's friend Maria and her kids for dinner.  Maria is an interesting one.  A math prodigy who went from Singapore to University of Wisconsin-Madison to get a math degree.  While in college she picked up billiards as a hobby and within a year she won the college national championships.  She and her husband recently opened their own bar in a nearby town.  I didn't ask but it doesn't look like she is at all interested in using her math degree for something obvious.

The next day we met her for breakfast at a cafe called The Victory.  This guy, Patrick, had a Victory Cafe in Brooklyn on State St, my old street.  Dodo and I used to go there a lot until he and his wife decided to move to Madison.  Fast forward 8 years and we meet up with him in his new Victory.  He remembered us and welcomed us with free cookies and lots of stories.  Dodo even got a free tee-shirt.
