Azores - Fighting Jetlag

And Mostly Winning
Our flight left Boston at 10pm and four and a half hours later with a five hour time shift, it was breakfast time when we landed.  We had to stall for time since we couldn't check into our cabin until 4pm.  We picked up our rental car - a Smart - the latest model, which is super sporty and would come in handy on the hairpin roads.  We headed to the western edge of the island to a natural hot springs called Termas de Ferraria.

The hot springs were perched on an outcropping of black rock stretching into the ocean.  No doubt a hardened volcanic spill from eons ago.

Dodo signed us up for the deluxe package - massage, outdoor hot springs pool, indoor hot springs pool, hot tub, lunch, etc.
There is even a hots prings in the ocean but it only works well at low tide.  In this photo, taken at high tide, the cold ocean water mixes too much with the hot spring water and makes for a chilly swim.  We unfortunately were there at high tide.  Dodo stuck her toe in and gave me the thumbs down.
No matter, I was quite happy starting with the hot tub, then moving into the indoor hot springs pool, then the outdoor hot springs pool, followed by an hour massage, shower and a long lunch.  We managed to kill most of the morning and early afternoon in style.
